Bylaw

Acknowledged as one of the finest makers of furniture using traditional methods, Bylaw’s Norfolk workshops produce designs inspired by the 17th and 18th centuries. For this range, Bylaw’s specialist cabinet makers and polishers have accurately replicated some of the National Trust’s finest pieces of 18th century country furniture. The original designers of these clever and elegant pieces of furniture would be proud to see them reproduced with such attention to detail and quality of workmanship.

The Erddig bookcases

Inspiration

The rooms of Erddig near Wrexham still contain most of their original furniture from the 18th century, including a beautiful solid oak linen press and two portable bookcases made from yew.

Beds

The grand four posters of Britain’s stately homes may look magnificent, but the originals were not that comfortable. Many Kings and Queens might have exchanged their carved bedsteads for the charms of the pocket-sprung mattress…

Wordsworth must have been thinking of Grasmere’s peaceful beauty where he found so much inspiration when he wrote his poem To Sleep:
