Rock formations at Kinver Edge
Really interesting for both its geology and history. Kinver Edge is a curious hill ridge or escarpement created from sand when this area was a desert over 200 million years ago. There are several interesting geological outcrops here, such as Nanny's Rock. It is now a popular spot for walking, with lots of open heath and woodland to explore. SO835834

Holy Austin Rock Houses
For centuries people dug into Kinver Edge's soft sandstone to create their homes, the last cave dwellers only moved out in the 1950s. One of the rock houses has been restored so you can imagine living here in Victorian times. There is also an exhibition about the long history of these unusual homes. SO835836

Iron Age Hill Fort
View over Kinver Edge, Staffordshire
Step back into prehistory and visit the unusual early Iron Age Hill Fort at the top of Kinver Edge. The name 'Kinver' actually means 'hill' in Celtic. Enjoy fantastic panoramas over at least three counties from up here. An engraved topograph at the viewpoint highlights some of the places you can see on a clear day. SO835831
