The National Trust owns 130 historic libraries containing about 220,000 books.
This makes the Trust one of the largest holders of old books in the country, and unique because it conserves whole libraries - varied in scale and packed with books of all kinds - an important part of the story of each historic property.
For a fascinating detailed introduction to the wealth of the Trust's holdings visit our online exhibition article, 'A new look at National Trust Libraries'.
