Why not become a National Trust volunteer?
The National Trust relies heavily on its team of volunteers, who help us in the huge task of running our properties on a day to day basis.
There are literally hundreds of rewarding ways to become involved as a volunteer: from working with a warden on high fells, lowland estates, gardens, coast or countryside.
You could assist house staff in caring for historic buildings and collections, archiving or developing learning opportunities for local communities and visiting schools. Alternatively, how about research, or working with Trust staff at one of our Regional Offices.
Here in the North West we are seeking volunteers at the following locations:
Cumbria
At Sizergh Castle, Hill Top, Wordsworth House and Derwent Island House we are looking for volunteers to work with us as room guides and gardeners. Across the Lake District we are looking for help with footpath maintenance, patrols and repairs.
Lancashire
At Gawthorpe Hall and Stubbins Estate we welcome help with a busy events programme, as well as working with the Warden on the Estate. Rufford Old Hall is keen to welcome new house stewards to their friendly team.
Merseyside
At Speke Hall, we welcome new guides and volunteers to help with our busy education programme. We also welcome help on the wider estate working with our Warden and Gardener.
Manchester and Cheshire
At Lyme Park, Quarry Bank Mill, Dunham Massey and Little Moreton Hall we welcome volunteers to help in the houses and on the estates, including room guides, events and wardening. We also have opportunities for you to get involved with essential countryside maintenance tasks, with our team of Wardens across the beautiful Cheshire countryside.
Regional Offices and National Trust Volunteer Groups
You could also join us at one of our Regional Offices, or if your prefer the outdoors, why not join one of our five National Trust Volunteer Groups undertaking conservation work at sites across the region.
If you are interested in any of the above, please email Sue Arcangeli or telephone 0161 925 4345 for further information about volunteering with the Trust.
