This November the Trust celebrates ten years of its ownership of a large part of Snowdon.
The 'Save Snowdon' appeal in 1998 raised £3.65 million which was used to purchase the Hafod y Llan estate and its flocks of Welsh Mountain ewes. Since then, the landscape, wildlife and walks have improved and the farm has been converted to organic status.

Delicious Organic Produce
Hafod y Llan is also famous for its delicious organic meat, produced from the healthy Welsh black cattle and Welsh mountain sheep that roam the estate, reared and cared for to the highest animal welfare standards. Meat can be purchased directly from the farm.

Photo gallery
Joe Cornish shares his favourite photos with us, taken on a shoot in Snowdonia. The photos were commissioned for the ten anniversary of Hafod y Llan and it was also Joe's first professional shoot using a digital camera. The results are very impressive.
Joe studied art at Reading University, where he first came under the spell of photography. He worked in Washington DC and London assisting photographers and then decided to pursue travel photography, contributing to more than 30 travel books. In 1991 he began a working relationship with the National Trust photolibrary that continues to this day, and this experience has convinced him of the vital role photography plays in inspiring environmental conservation.
The Snowdonia Appeal
The Snowdonia Appeal raises funds to support vital conservation projects thoughout our properties in Snowdonia. Snowdonia is under threat - partly because it's a victim of its own popularity. Over 400,000 visitors come each year to Cwm Idwal alone.
