    Arnside Knott, Arnside
A view of the lakes from Arnside Knott on a winter's day
Low hill covered with limestone grassland and mixed woodland, which attracts a variety of insects and is especially renowned for butterflies. There are outstanding views from the summit to the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. On neighbouring Heathwaite there are beautiful shows of wild flowers, including cowslips and orchids, in spring and early summer. SD450774

    Eaves Wood, Silverdale
An area of ancient woodland with open glades and hazel coppice. There are some excellent examples of exposed limestone pavement here, which provide an excellent habitat for rare plants and wildlife. Eaves Wood also has plenty of paths and there are wonderful views of Silverdale from the jubilee memorial near the summit. SD465763
Sunset by the pepperpot at Eaves Wood
    The Lots, Silverdale
    Cows grazing at the Lots
An area of easy-walking grassland in the middle of Silverdale village, which leads down to the shore at the Cove and has wonderful views over Morecambe Bay. In spring and early summer you can find displays of wild flowers here, including Green Winged orchids. SD460749
    Jack Scout, Silverdale
This area is one of only two cliffs on the Lancashire side of Morecambe Bay. As elsewhere, the limestone grassland is rich in wild flowers, but the wild shrubs also provide a good breeding ground for song-birds and feeding places for weary migrant-birds passing through. SD458737
