Hardwick Hall A wide-ranging archaeological survey by Northamptonshire Archaeological Unit has given us greater breadth and depth in understanding the complex archaeology associated with the hall and park. The report is in the final stages of editing but should give us new insights into this very important property.

Velvet Hill, Llangollen & Graig Fawr Level 3 archaeological surveys completed.
Dinas Dinlle Detailed survey of coastal hillfort, commissioned by NT and grant-aided by Cadw in mitigation of natural and human footpath erosion. Conservation plan pending.
Dolmelynllyn estate Jointly funded by NT and Cadw, consolidation of barrack block of the gold mine.
Dolaucothi A desk top survey of gold mine - emphasis on the Roman occupation (Costwold Archaeology).
Skenfrith Cadw commissioned excavation (Kevin Blockley) of several trenches adjacent to Skenfrith Castle in advance of engineering works to protect the river bank. A medieval quay with possible associated buildings was discovered.
Stackpole Combined designed landscape, archive and tree survey (Chris Burnett Associates)- part of the Stackpole conservation plan - explained the evolution of the Grade I, picturesque landscape. Further survey (Cambria Archaeology)on historic maps of the property & walled garden (Sal Garfi).
Trehill Field-walking survey as part of heathland recreation scheme. No significant finds.
Pwll Caerog Level 3 survey of Pwll Caerog (Engineering Archaeological Services).
Gower Resurvey - part of Gower properties (Phil Poucher, long-term volunteer).
- Survey to monitor coastal erosion of scheduled deserted settlement at Rhossili (Archaeological Engineering Services)
WESSEX
Hidcote Manor Garden Evaluation excavation (Cotswold Archaeology) to inform the restoration of a former plant shelter, described in Country Life (1930) and since lost. The architect was therefore able to plan a structure that echoed both the historical design and dimensions of the first phase of building, based as closely on the archaeological evidence as possible. The new plant shelter was completed in May 2004.
Montacute Archaeological & historic landscape survey by Terrain Archaeology (part funded by DEFRA as part of a Countryside Stewardship programme).
Bath Skyline Historic landscape survey (Bath Archaeological Trust) of NT land on the high ground east of Bath overlooking the city. The survey located and mapped the footings of Roman buildings, prehistoric and Romano-British field systems and remains of the Bath stone quarry industry with evidence dating back to the Roman period.
Tyntesfield Archaeological and historic landscape assessment of the property (Nick Hanks).
Stonehenge Estate, Durrington Walls The National Trust acquired the west part of Durrington Walls, the Late Neolithic henge north-east of Stonehenge, in 2002. Watching brief (in house) on works to enable improved grazing and fencing.
Stourhead Estate, Temple on the Terrace Within Stourhead Landscape Park in south-west Wiltshire are the footings of several garden buildings which were demolished by Sir Richard Colt-Hoare in the late 18th century. One of these buildings remained unlocated until winter 2001 when gardeners working on clearing laurel came across footings. These were excavated by the National Trust archaeologists when. Excavation with support from local volunteers in the summer of 2002, revealed the footings and cellar of the “Temple on the Terrace” which was built in the 1740s.
