The National Trust owns over 245,000ha of land in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. 60% of this area is leased to farm tenants under various agreements. Some of them rent whole farms with buildings, while others rent blocks of land in a number of ways.
The Trust works with its tenants to ensure that land is managed in ways that support the environmental and aesthetic aims of the Trust, while appreciating the challenges of sustaining farm viability and increasing the vitality of the farming industry.
Vacant farms, land, or other farming opportunities (such as share farming, contract farming, conservation grazing partnerships etc) arise occasionally, and when they do they are usually advertised in the national farming press. Details will also be made available on these pages.
