Careers in forestry can be started with or without qualifications.
Obviously the more or better the qualifications that you have, the more choice will be open to you. They range from NVQs in forestry (woodland management and timber production) and arboriculture (urban and rural landscaping, public amenity and tree care), to degree and HNC/HND level courses, and professional skills training is also available.
Voluntary experience can be gained with the National Trust, BTCV or the Wildlife Trust.
A love of being outdoors, an interest in trees and the environment, and being self-motivated are important.
