The walled kitchen garden has a wealth of sights and smells to experience; whether it's the magnificent 400 foot herbaceous borders, trees laden with heritage varieties of fruit or the 450 foot long-range glasshouse, there's always plenty to visit, time and time again.

Clumber Chapel was built between 1886 and 1889 and its 180 foot spire provides the backdrop to many a photograph. Whether you want a place for quiet contemplation or to marvel at the magnificent Victorian craftsmanship, the Chapel is a must for any first-time visitor.

The man-made serpentine lake offers a 4 mile route around its banks, with magnificent views from the ornamental bridge and opportunities for bird spotting; there are over 200 species living here, including mallards, swans, geese and coots.

At nearly 3 miles long and over 170 years old, Limetree Avenue is the longest in Europe and still provides the majestic feel of entering a grand ducal estate. You will be greeted by a spectacular display, whatever time of year you visit, from the fresh buds in springtime to the copper autumnal months.

The Victorian interest in collecting exotic plants, such as rhododendron and mock orange shrubs, has added a splash of colour and fragrance to the elegant meander along the recently restored paths in the Pleasure Ground. This area was designed in the 18th century to offer the Dukes and their families secluded and beautiful walks.
