About the group
The Newton Abbot Association was started in 1983 and has between 250 and 300 members.
We are a 'Supporters Club' for the National Trust, providing social events to enhance National Trust Membership, and to raise funds for the Trust, which we can put to chosen projects. Because some of our members serve as volunteers there, we see Castle Drogo and Bradley Manor as on our home patch.
We expect to recruit from Newton Abbot itself, Bovey Tracey and the surrounding towns or villages such as Ipplepen, Ashburton and Kingsteignton covering the 'Costa Geriatrica' between Torquay and Dartmoor. We are proud to be thought an exceptionally friendly bunch, just ask any recent joiners.
Our Constitution is a negotiated variant of the standard National Trust model, and the Association is run by a committee of 8 or so members, chosen at the AGM.
