The objectives of the South Hams Centre are to actively promote and prosper the work of the National Trust both nationally but specifically in the geographical area of the South Hams.
Each year an interesting and varied programme of local events is arranged for the benefit of members. This includes talks, walks, lunches, and coach outings to National Trust and similar properties and gardens in the Somerset, Devon and Cornwall areas.
A newsletter devoted to local matters is also published regularly, enabling members to keep in touch with National Trust activities within the South Hams area, as well as nationally.
The Centre supports the Trust financially through donations from fundraising activities and assists whenever possible in recruiting new members. Since its formation in 1980 the Centre has raised and donated some £160,000 to National Trust projects.
