Trewavas Mine protected May 2008
The National Trust has successfully acquired one of the most important mines and dramatically situated engine houses in Cornwall - Trewavas near Porthleven.
Wembury Woods acquired April 2008
The National Trust has announced that it has successfully completed the purchase of Wembury Wood at Wembury nr Plymouth. Wembury Wood directly adjoins an area of over 200 hectares (500 acres) of existing Trust land bordering the Yealm Estuary and Wembury Coastline.
Tommy's dressing room opened at Lanhydrock April 2008
When Lanhydrock House opened its doors in 2008 there was a major new attraction for visitors. For the first time the dressing room that once belonged to the Honourable Tommy Agar-Robartes MP (1880-1915) will be open to the public.

Children help dormice at Cotehele April 2008
Children from Calstock Primary School have put up 50 home-made dormouse boxes in National Trust woodland, following the discovery of dormouse habitation for the first time in 38 years.
A Welcombe Acquisition April 2008
The Devon Wildlife Trust has gifted its land at Welcombe Mouth (approximately 26 hectares), in North Devon to the National Trust.
Recollections: 30 years of costume at Killerton February 2008
2008 marks thirty years since the Paulise de Bush costume collection was first displayed to the public at Killerton House. ‘Recollections’ is a new exhibition of treasured objects from the collection.
Work begins on replacing the wheel shaft at Finch Foundry February 2008
Finch Foundry in Sticklepath near Okehampton is the last surviving water-powered forge in England. The wheel shaft now needs to be replaced to ensure that the foundry can once again be in working order for visitors.
Volunteer accommodation goes green February 2008
Carleon House provides accommodation for full-time volunteers carrying out conservation work in west Cornwall, particularly on the Lizard Peninsula. It was recently highly commended in the Energy Efficiency Awards.
