A lunchtime Eco-Club run by staff from Hardwick Hall for schoolchildren has won a special award for engaging with local people.
The regional National Trust Award for Engagement was presented to Hardwick’s Community Learning Officer, Jo Rawson. Bramley Vale is Hardwick Hall’s Guardianship School which means they work in partnership to develop a close relationship from which the children greatly benefit.

Hardwick’s Community Learning Officer, Jo Rawson, has been running the Eco-Club called 'Footprints' at the school every Monday lunchtime. Jo said:
'The success of the Eco-Club has been amazing. We run a wide range of fun environmental activities to inspire the children and encourage them to care for our environment.'
Activities focus on all sorts of conservation and environmental issues including recycling, composting, food, wildlife identification and how we can all help protect our planet. The children really enjoy the Club and are always eager to tell me what environmentally friendly things they have been doing each week, and all are much more aware of how their actions impact on the world around them.'
