Autumn half-term already! It only seems five minutes since the children went back to school after the summer holidays. Well don’t worry, we have some great ideas of where you can take the kids, to keep them and you entertained this October.
Whatever the weather, from action packed activity days to family fun days for those looking after the pennies – there is something for everyone to enjoy. Whether it be an event, or simply a visit to your nearest National Trust estate where the children can burn off some energy – it’s sure to be a great day out.
There are plenty of activities to choose from this October half-term, here are some of the highlights to look forward to:
Brancaster Millennium Activity Centre The BMAC Bikers - Weds 29 October, 9.30am to 12.30pm or 1.30 to 4.30pm Don’t stay in during the half-term holiday, get out and have some fun! Spend half a day improving your cycling skills with relays, slow races and slalom challenges in the morning. Why not stay the whole day and join in with the afternoon session ‘Just Pedal Power’ and enjoy great views on our guided cycle ride. Booking essential.
Hatfield Forest Trusty’s Autumn Watch - Weds 29 October, 10.30am to 12pm & 1pm to 2.30pm Visit Hatfield Forest and become a wildlife spotter. Find out if autumn has arrived and discover lots of fascinating facts about hedgehogs. Why not make an autumn collage using natural materials. Booking is advised.
Ickworth House, Park and Gardens Cool Kites for Kids – Tuesday 28 October, 11am to 3pm Come along and join our kite-making workshop. Design and create your own kite, then take it outside and see it fly in Ickworth Park. The workshop is recommended for children aged between 4 and 11 years. Booking is essential.
Wicken Fen Feed the Birds - Tuesday 28 October, 10.30am to 12.30pm, or 2pm to 4pm Ideal for 6 to 12 year olds, come along to this amazing nature reserve and find out how you can help the animals and birds in your garden over the winter months. Make your own bird feeders and food and enjoy a day out in the countryside. Booking is essential.
