Description
This fine mid-18th-century property enjoys a spectacular setting amongst the mountains
and forests of west Fermanagh. Parkland, garden and woodland surround the house, with outstanding views
to the Cuilcagh Mountains. Florence Court is the former home fo the Earls of
Enniskillen. It was built by the 1st Lord Mount Florence in a lively classical style, and embellished
with superb rococo plasterwork. The recent return of many family paintings, furnishings and other artefacts
has transformed the arrangement of the public rooms. Most of the trappings of a large 18th-century estate
survive, including basement servants quarters, a water powered sawmill and an icehouse, all highly evocative
of a bygone age. There is a tranquil walled garden containing a pretty holiday
cottage available for letting. The Pleasure Grounds offer fine views to the mountains from the thatched
Summer House. Well-maintained paths wind through the garden and fields to the extensive forest park.
