Open all year GRID REF: OS GR183076
Wasdale campsite, at the heart of Britain's favourite view, nestles under the Scafell mountain range at the head of beautiful Wastwater, the deepest lake in England, with its distinctive Nordic character and the pyramidal peak of Great Gable reflected in its waters.
This stunning place is attractive for its remoteness and utter peace. The dramatic landscape will inspire the most adventurous outdoor enthusiast. England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, is within striking distance from Wasdale Campsite as are many other high fell walking routes.
The birthplace of British rock climbing, Wasdale offers true mountaineering in the surrounding fells. A great base for climbers of all abilities, the valley offers classic routes such as Napes Needle and Central Buttress. Canoeing is possible on Wastwater although limited to no more than 15 on the lake at a time.
For more information about Wasdale, visit www.wasdaleweb.co.uk.
To ensure an enjoyable holiday for all, campers are expected to agree to the campsites terms and conditions.
We now offer a limited hook-up facility for campervans. For further information, please call the Warden on 019467 26220.
