About the group
We are a voluntary organisation formed 36 years ago to support and promote the work and principles of the Trust within our region.
Our membership of around 300 drawn principally but not exclusively from South Lakeland welcomes new members who are members of the National Trust, affiliated organisations or a National Trust Volunteer.
Our principal support to the Trust is fund raising, examples being purchase of the Harpsichord at Wordworth's House, Cockermouth, support to Townend at Troutbeck for renovation of House exhibits and equipment. To the Footprint at St Catherines and to Sizergh for purchase of audio visual equipment for educational purposes and support to renovation work. To Fell Foot for VHF radios for rescue co-ordination on Windermere, to the stonewall renovation at Silverdale and to gardening effort at Monk Coniston.
To this end we organise an annual programme of talks, visits, walks, coffee mornings and a yearly holiday.
