The Lake District Members’ Club is a voluntary association of National Trust Members formed in 1975. It has a current membership of 450 drawn principally but not exclusively from South Lakeland.
It is our purpose to promote and support the work and principles of the National Trust particularly around our region from within a sociable and friendly group of people interested in the work of the Trust and keen for it to maintain its pre-eminent role.
Our principal support to the Trust comes through fund-raising, a recent example being a sizeable donation for the harpsichord at Wordsworth’s house in Cockermouth. To this end the committee, supported by the members, organise an interesting and varied programme of events throughout the year. In addition our members act as volunteer room stewards at both Townend and at Sizergh Castle.
