During the autumn and winter a series of lectures are arranged for the third Sunday of the month. Past topics have ranged over, traditional building in the Lake District, early maps of the North West, heraldry, Nelson’s Navy, canals, railways and packhorse days to mention but a few.
Summer brings outings to places of interest, recent examples being New Lanark World Heritage site, Llangollen to ride the Dee Valley Steam Railway and cruise the canal over Telford’s Pontcysyllte aqueduct and Chatsworth. A short break holiday is arranged for the early autumn within the UK, last year the destination was Kent and East Sussex to visit Trust properties. Members are kept informed through our newsletter issued three times a year.
The year is rounded off with the AGM in November and the Christmas Lunch in early December.
A couple of organised walks in the locality are also arranged. Coffee Mornings, Afternoon Teas and a book sale add to the fund raising efforts.
