The North Downs is a chalk ridge that runs from the Hampshire border, eastwards through Surrey and Kent to the White Cliffs of Dover. The National Trust owns and manages a number of countryside properties in this area, many of them being Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Some form part of the 90sq km known as the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
