The Rye and Winchelsea Centre was founded in 1980 and currently has over 300 members in the area of Winchelsea, Rye, Northiam and Romney Marsh.
Our objectives are to promote the National Trust locally, raise funds in its support, and arrange a programme of events and activities for member’s enjoyment and to further the National Trust’s work.
Among the National Trust properties we support are Lamb House, where we have replaced carpets and restored a fountain, Smallhythe Place where we have replaced a de-humidifier in the costume gallery and Bodiam Castle, where we have repaired a Second World War pill box.
The Rye and Winchelsea Centre is independent of the National Trust and governed by a constitution common to all the charity’s centres and associations. Our affairs are conducted by a committee of officers and members who are elected at our annual general meeting held in February each year.
