About the group
The Aylesbury Centre is a voluntary association of National Trust members founded in 1974 to promote and prosper the work of the National Trust. We also aim to provide social activities which add value to Trust membership - these include a popular and varied evening talks programme, outings to National Trust properties and other destinations, coffee mornings, and other events.
The 250 or so members live in Aylesbury, across the Aylesbury Vale, and beyond. We take a keen interest in the smaller properties in the area, including The King’s Head, and we particularly support Claydon House at Middle Claydon, near Buckingham, and Ashridge Estate. Some of our members are room stewards at Claydon. Associated with this, we have recently produced a booklet on Florence Nightingale, aimed specifically at children but also of interest to adults.
We plan to celebrate our 35th anniversary at Claydon in 2009. Our President, John Bly, takes an active interest in the Centre.
