About the group
The Wrexham Association, whose membership comes mainly from the Wrexham, Mold and Buckley areas, enjoy a series of winter talks, held in the lecture theatre of the Glyndwr University in Wrexham, which have included in the past The History of Canals in our area, The history of photography and cameras, Whixall mosses and fens and Surgery in the Peninsular war.
During the summer months, regular coach trips are arranged to places of historic interest – past visits have included Moseley Old Hall and Sunnycroft in the Midlands, Nantclwyd y Dre and Ruthin Gaol in North Wales and Southport and Rufford Old Hall in the North West.
All monies raised through the programme are used to support special projects at Erddig Hall in Wrexham and over £106,000 has been donated since 1981 which recently has helped to complete the renovation of the Victorian children’s playhouse, the reconstructed vinery and the provision of two oak benches by the canal.
