The Golden Cap Centre (West Dorset) was founded in 1978 and has over 550 members drawn mainly from the West Dorset area.
Our objectives are to actively promote and prosper the work of the National Trust in relation to West Dorset and to offer social activities to make National Trust membership even more enjoyable.
We take our name from the highest cliff on the South Coast of England – Golden Cap in Dorset – which is of outstanding ecological and geological importance because of its considerable size and diversity. On Stonebarrow Hill is a shop and visitor centre which is unique as it is staffed purely by volunteers. It is open every day from Good Friday until the end of October.
We are independent of the National Trust but governed by a constitution common to all the charity's Centres and Associations. Our affairs are conducted by a committee elected at our Annual General Meeting held every March.
