About the group
The Golden Cap Centre (West Dorset) was founded in 1978 and has over 550 members. We support the work of the National Trust and offer activities such as talks; walks; coach visits; quizzes; lunches etc to make National Trust membership even more enjoyable. Membership is open to National Trust members and accredited volunteers.
We take our name from the highest cliff on the South Coast of England – The Golden Cap – which is part of the Jurassic Coast and of outstanding ecological and geological importance. On Stonebarrow Hill is a shop which is unique as it is staffed purely by volunteers. It is open every day from Good Friday until the end of October.
We are independent of the National Trust but governed by a constitution common to all the charity's Centres and Associations. Our affairs are conducted by a committee elected at our Annual General Meeting held every March.
