About the group
The Purbeck Association was founded in 1987 to promote the work of the National Trust in Purbeck and, through social activities, make membership more enjoyable.
We have more than 400 members living mainly in and around Purbeck, but any National Trust member or Volunteer wishing to support the work of the Trust in this area is welcome to join.
We have a programme of summer outings, winter talks and year-round social activities including such things as quizes, meals, ten-pin bowling and barbeques.
Among National Trust properties we support are the Corfe Castle and Studland Estates. In recent years we have provided funds for a beach wheelchair at Studland, waymark signs at Corfe Castle, a stone seat at Worth Matravers, a new bull for the Purbeck Red Devon herd, and improvements to the Studland Study Centre. As well as physical improvements we’ve helped fund environmental research studies.
