West Somerset National Trust Association was founded in 1982 and currently has 415 members in Minehead, Porlock, Dunster, Williton and the surrounding villages to Bridgwater, Taunton and Exmoor.
Our objectives are to promote and support the National Trust locally and, by arranging a programme of events and activities for our members’ participation and enjoyment, to raise funds in its support.
Among the National Trust properties we support are Dunster Castle and the Holnicote Estate. For example we have raised funds to provide a bat camera for the wildlife interpretation project and the house interpretation for the Morning Room at DunsterCastle. We've also raised funds for restoration work at Piles Mill, the Dunkery bronze age cairns and for upgrading the volunteers accommodation at Holnicote.
The West Somerset National Trust Association is independent of the National Trust and governed by a constitution common to all the charity’s centres and associations. Our affairs are conducted by a committee of officers and members who are elected at our annual general meeting held in February each year.
