Working with the local community was a key part of the management plan for the Iron Age hill-fort the Trust owns at Cadbury Camp, near Clevedon.
We planned a process of public consultation and received over 80 written responses from local residents and an audience of 90 people at a talk looking at the site’s history and nature conservation interest.
Bill Morris, National Trust Head Warden for the Bristol area, said: “We have been delighted by the response of the local community to our consultation on Cadbury Camp. Cadbury Camp is very well used by local people, not least for the magnificent views it offers over the Mendips and Bristol Channel, and the public reaction to our appeal for contributions to the management plans shows just what a high level of interest and commitment there is to our heritage in this area.”
Out of this consultation process, the Trust has now developed a band of willing volunteers who we call upon to help with necessary practical conservation work - from scrub bashing to ragwort pulling.
