Without volunteer help the Trust wouldn’t be able to maintain many of the properties we look after to such high and necessary standards. As well as a weekly volunteer group, who help with practical conservation work, the project also looked at ways in which it could work with groups to help with large tasks.
Employee Volunteering
We have worked with a number of companies, such as BT and the Environment Agency, who have approached the Trust to develop team-building exercises. Employee volunteering is beneficial to the organisation involved as well as helping the Trust with its conservation work and raising awareness of that work.
Young Bristol
The Bristol Community Involvement project provided at least one taster day a month for volunteers from Young Bristol, an organisation set up to provide help and advice to young people and promote volunteering. These taster days are a chance to try volunteering and hopefully encourage young people to volunteer on a permanent basis.
Youth Offending Team (YOT)
The project has also worked in partnership with the Bristol Youth Offending Team, providing monthly tasks for young people. Coming out with their leaders on a Sunday, young people fulfil their community reparation work by helping the Trust with conservation tasks at Leigh Woods.
