The clocks may have gone forward but there is one that’s going back - for repairs. The turret clock at the National Trust’s Avebury is being removed for a year of restoration on Wednesday 8 April.
'It’s always time for tea at Avebury!'
The hands of the 18th-century turret clock in the Stables Gallery at the Alexander Keiller Museum have been stuck at 4 o’clock for as long as anyone can remember.
On Wednesday 8 April, work will begin to remove the clock and have it repaired by turret clock expert Peter Watkinson in Somerset.
'The clock will be off-site for one year undergoing repair before being returned to its rightful place,' says Meg Sims.
'All this has been made possible by generous donations from the Kennet Valley National Trust Association, the efforts of National Trust volunteers who sold raffle tickets and our visitors who bought them.'
