Many of our parks and gardens put on a magnificent display of autumn colour and we anticipate this year will be a real visual extravaganza.
Stourhead, with the colours of the Japanese maples, golden tulip trees and bronzed beeches reflected in the lake is a sight not to be missed. Explore the wider estate and visit the restaurant, the shop and the plant centre – there is even a chance for a thirst quenching pint at Stourhead’s very own pub – The Spread Eagle Inn, situated in the enchanting courtyard.

For more intimate gardens Hidcote and Barrington, with their glorious red borders full of dahlias and the Courts Garden with over 7 acres of ‘garden rooms’ are a real treat; Dunster Castle, offers its fruiting strawberry trees and sub-tropical gardens; At Kingston Lacy the acers and gingkos in the Japanese Gardens give an oriental feel to the season.
The deer park of Dyrham and the arboretum at Tyntesfield are the perfect place to wander through crisp autumn leaves too.
