A number of well known north east artists have donated unique items of their work to the National Trust’s Save Seaton Delaval Hall Appeal in a bid to raise the vital funds needed to secure public access to the Hall forever.
Artists donating to the cause range from well known local artists, including Charles Evans, Matt Forster, Sandy Miller, Jeff Rowlands, Denis Kilgallon and John Kerr. Alongside internationally known artists such as Enrique Azocar, who is donating one of his original pastel paintings.

In total, approximately 80 artists have agreed to donate an item of their work to the auction, which was the brainchild of Elaine Page, a local artist who saw the National Trust’s call for people to save Seaton Delaval Hall in the press and said she had to respond.
Elaine Page said:
'For me, because I am a northern lass, I was strongly drawn to this call for help. The only thing I could donate was a piece of my art, but I soon realised there would be others who felt as passionately as me about saving this wonderful example of northern heritage.'

The auction is a real opportunity for people to purchase unique, original works of art while at the same time supporting this massively important regional opportunity to save the Hall. Any donations whether through bidding or from visitors wishing to view the art will be gratefully received at the The Art Works Galleries and will be sent directly to the Save Seaton Delaval Hall campaign.

The charity auction takes place at The Art Works Galleries, Stepney Bank, Ouseburn in Newcastle on Sunday 5 October at 6pm with special previews during the day of Saturday 4 and Sunday 5. A special demonstration from Charles Evans will also take place on the Sunday from 1pm – 3pm and the art he creates on that day will be sold in the evening’s auction.

Matt Forster, Artist and Director of The Art Works Galleries in Newcastle said:
'We’re really looking forward to holding the auction within The Art Works Galleries and helping raise money so save the Hall. It’s a beautiful building and it’s important to save these historical landmarks while the region also adds new, modern, assets to its land. The partnership between the Gallery and the National Trust, working together to raise money, is a great reflection of supporting culture in the region.'
The National Trust has been working in close partnership with many organisations in the region in a bid to save the Hall, and if the North East don’t rise to the challenge then all could be lost.
Sadie Parker, Acting Communications and Marketing Manager for the National Trust said:
'We are so pleased that Elaine, the artists and The Art Works Galleries have responded to this fantastic opportunity we are offering the North East. Seaton Delaval Hall is an amazing place and we want to ensure that it is kept that way and that it remains open to the public forever. If we don’t raise the £6.3 million by Christmas, public access to the Hall may be lost forever.'
