Middlethorpe Hall is a William and Mary country house, built in 1699 of mellow red brick and stone. It is set in a green oasis next to York Racecourse, and within the historic City of York. Rescued from decay and lovingly restored by Historic House Hotels, today it offers an elegantly romantic venue for your wedding.

Middlethorpe's interiors are gracefully decorated in the manner of the 18th century and furnished with antiques and fine paintings. Its look and ambiance is that of a well-kept, well-furnished private manor house rather than a hotel.
The Hall is complemented by 20 acres of manicured gardens and parkland. You and your guests can enjoy the parterre with its fragrant rose garden, an intriguing walled garden, and the romantic parkland, which leads to a lake surrounded by beautiful specimen trees.
Fine dining is also on the menu. Middlethorpe Hall is renowned for its imaginative cuisine and its panelled dining rooms which overlook the gardens.
The Spa is the ideal place to meet and relax with your guests. Built behind the handsome façade of two listed Edwardian cottages, it boasts a splendid swimming pool, sauna and gymnasium. Trained therapists are on hand to pamper you with treatments from Decléor, ESPA and Jessica.

The Barlow Room
Located in a converted 18th-century coach house, next to the Hall, the Barlow Room has the convenience of its own cloakrooms, bar and kitchen. It has an interesting open vaulted ceiling, painted in an eclectic style that gives it an airy feel. There are access ramps and facilities for less-abled guests.

- Capacity: 56 (theatre style)
The Dovecote
Built in circa 1680, the Dovecote nestles in the award-winning gardens of sweetly fragranced herbs, flowers and trained fruit trees, edged by neatly trimmed yew hedges. The Dovecote now holds our extensive wine collection.

The Drawing Room
The magnificent Drawing Room in the main Hall is a truly romantic setting to take your vows in, when the hotel is hired for exclusive use. Its high ceiling, hung with a crystal chandelier, and beautiful sash windows, reaching from floor to ceiling, give the room true elegance, enhanced by the antique furnishings and fine paintings.

The Library
Ideal for small, intimate ceremonies, the Library is elegantly furnished with antiques and fine paintings. Bookcases filled with rare books stand on either side of the fireplace. Opposite, two windows, reaching to the ceiling, overlook the sweeping lawn and parkland. The Library is located off the hall which leads out to the South Terrace, which is ideal for reception drinks on a warm day.

The Upstairs Sitting Room
Located at the top of the stairs on the first floor, the Sitting Room is elegantly furnished with antiques and fine paintings. Its windows, with window seats, look out over the lawn and gardens. It is ideal for smaller, intimate ceremonies or receptions.

The Grill Room
Located on the lower ground floor, the Grill Room area is self contained with its own sitting room for pre-dinner drinks.

The Yellow Room
Overlooking the gardens, the Yellow Room has elegant, painted panels. It is ideal for a private dinner party seating up to 14.
The Pineapple Room
Overlooking the terrace and gardens, this room is adorned with pineapple features, the traditional sign of hospitality. It is ideal for a private dining party seating up to 25 guests.

- £680 (includes VAT) for weddings with 4 to 14 guests
- £1080 (includes VAT) for weddings with 15 to 56 guests
Music can be arranged for during the ceremony and wedding breakfast. Please note: dancing and discos are only available for wedding parties that have exclusive use of the Hall.
Exclusive use:
Middlethorpe Hall and its grounds can be reserved exclusively (excluding the Spa) for a day or weekend of celebrations. We offer 29 individually designed bedrooms and suites, and many majestic public rooms, including the 18th-century Drawing Room and the Oak Panelled Dining Room, for you to entertain in and enjoy.
Please note that reservations should be made at least a year in advance and cannot coincide with York Race Days. Catering and beverages are an additional cost.
Price for exclusive use: the cost for the exclusive use of Middlethorpe Hall starts from £12,000 per day (includes VAT and service). A minimum spend of £2,000 is required in food and beverages.
