Thinking about volunteering and want to be part of a group? Our volunteer groups help our staff with hands-on involvement, organising conservation days and weekend events. Activities range from footpath and step construction to planting and coppicing.
Who are we?
The Upper Wharfedale NTV Group, a small group of volunteers based in Buckden, North Yorkshire, meet every Wednesday to support the Upper Wharfedale Estate.
We plan our own independent work schedule, usually meeting up on site to repair dry-stone walls either alongside the Dales Way or in more remote areas of the estate. We also repair foot-paths, plant trees, lead walks and help with property open days. Thorough training is provided by the Trust as well as boots, protective clothing and tools.
In 2007 the group’s Buckden Garth Project won the Trust’s Marsh Heritage Award for outstanding voluntary group contributions to the Trust – we raised finance for and completed the construction of an interpretation centre in the village for school visits.
If you too would like to make an impact on the Dales countryside and meet with like minded people then we would welcome you as part of our group.
