Our objectives are to promote the National Trust within the North East, raise funds for its support and arrange a programme of events and activities to enrich our members understanding of the importance of our Heritage in the North East.
Among National Trust properties we have supported over the years are Wallington, Cragside, Gibside and the Neptune Coastline Campaign. For example we helped Wallington restore the painting ‘White Sorrel’, a horse which threw and killed King William the Third after he had confiscated it from Sir John Fenwick, the original owner. This now hangs in the Library at Wallington. Currently we are supporting the restoration of the Victorian Lights at Cragside.
The Tyne Valley Association is independent of the National Trust and governed by a constitution approved by a previous Annual General Meeting (AGM). Our affairs are conducted by a committee of officers and members who are elected at our AGM held each year in May with subscriptions covering a year from August 1.
