In partnership with Blyth Valley Council, we have announced a number of public meetings to discuss the future of Seaton Delaval Hall as part of their bid to save the Hall from private sale.
The meetings, which take place throughout Blyth Valley in September, will enable local people to feed back their ideas on what they would like Seaton Delaval Hall to be used for. It is also a chance for local residents to have their questions answered about the proposed acquisition.
We have committed £6.9 million of the charity’s funds to provide and endowment to care for Seaton Delaval Hall and 450 acres of surrounding green space in perpetuity, a hefty sum towards the overall £13.2 million needed for acquisition, project and conservation costs. However, our trustees have said that this money will only be available on the condition that we are able to raise the remaining £6.3 million externally before Christmas, and that the acquisition has wide public support.

Mark Robinson, Cultural Development Officer for Blyth Valley Borough Council said:
'The National Trust’s potential acquisition of Seaton Delaval Hall is a great opportunity for Blyth Valley, it could have a transformational impact on the area.
'The consultation meetings are about finding out what the needs of the local community are – what do they want to see the Hall used for and how could it best serve them?
'This stunning attraction has the potential to provide a fantastic venue for local activity as well as boosting the economy'.
