Part of Gibside's famous concert weekend, the North East’s favourite outdoor tribute night, features Queen and ABBA tribute groups Mercury and Voulez-Vous. This very popular event has sold out well in advance for the last six years.
After almost a decade on tour, Mercury is now established as one of the world’s most authentic tributes to Freddie Mercury and Queen. With a dynamic stage show that fully emulates the true charismatic appeal of rock’s most flamboyant front man backed up by superbly crafted harmonies and intricate guitar work, Mercury faithfully and accurately re-create the distinctive Queen experience.
Voulez-Vous are considered to be one of the best ABBA tribute acts around, recreating the unique sound of the famous Swedish pop sensations. Performing at Gibside for the eighth consecutive year, Voulez-Vous are back again with a show which is as fresh as ever.

Midsummer Music & Fireworks – Gibside – 8pm – Saturday 19 July 2008
This is the North East's favourite outdoor classical spectacular with a fabulous firework finale to Edward Elgars Pomp and Circumstance March Number 1. Joined this year by the English Sinfonia - led by English National Opera Orchestra leader Janice Graham - conductor David Temple - soloists Valerie Reid and Bethany Halliday.
Programme highlights will be Arias from Tosca, Showboat, Samson and Delilah, the Gibside favourite Nimrod from the Enigma Variations and a second half section devoted to songs of the North East. Doors open at 4.00pm, so bring along your chairs, tables, picnics, bottles of bubbly and enjoy yourselves!
