Former Government Chief Vet, Professor Debby Reynolds, has been appointed as the new Chair of the National Trust’s Nature Conservation Panel.
Dr David Bullock, Head of Nature Conservation at the National Trust, said:
'As we deal with the realities of a changing climate, the Nature Conservation Panel provides us with a sounding board for ideas and giving advice on practical nature conservation. We look forward to working closely with Professor Reynolds and I’d like to thank the outgoing Chair, Dr Pat Morris, for all of his support and work over the last eleven years.'
The Nature Conservation Panel provides expert advice to staff and the Board of Trustees on a wide range of issues from re-introducing animals and plants to Trust land to advising on major environmental issues facing the organisation.
Professor Debby Reynolds, commented:
'As the new Chair of the National Trust Nature Conservation Panel I aim to raise the profile of the nature conservation work of the National Trust and develop ways of connecting wildlife and people. There are real opportunities for landscape scale approaches to nature conservation so that we can link habitats and species.'
