Fiona Reynolds, Director-General of the National Trust, has been
awarded a DBE in the New Year Honours list, for services to Heritage and conservation.
Two other members of National Trust staff at the Head Office in Swindon have also
been awarded MBEs. Oliver Garnett, Guidebook Editor for the Trust and David Shelley, Deputy Head of
Building receive the awards for their services to Heritage.
The newly appointed Dame commented:
'I'm absolutely delighted to have received this honour. This award
is really a recognition of the fantastic work that all National Trust staff and volunteers carry out
everyday in looking after so many special places for everyone to enjoy.'
Dame Fiona Reynolds DBE became head of the National Trust
in 2001, and has seen membership figures grow to 3.5 million in her time.
