On 26 February, npower employees braved the elements and worked with Trust staff and volunteers on the High Peak Estate, to restore an area of degraded peat bog. The team’s primary task involved spreading heather brash over an area of bare peat on Bleaklow summit.
Tim Bullock, Affinities Executive for npower, took part and found the day a worthwhile experience:
‘The day proved highly rewarding for all who attended and provided great enlightenment upon the fantastic work that the Trust continues to offer the District. Although the conditions were challenging, it was an enjoyable day out and really helped to strengthen the bonds that exist across the partnership’.
Mike Innerdale, Property Manager of the High Peak Estate, said;
'It is great that npower volunteers are helping out with this important environmental project that aims to restore the peat bogs, which are a vital carbon sink and therefore critical in our in the fight against climate change.’
