The National Trust looks after two suburban houses in Merseyside, 20 Forthlin Road and Mendips. These unassuming houses are the childhood homes of two Beatles, Sir Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
Visiting the Beatles houses in Liverpool is an absolute must for fans of the band of any ages. The tours provide a real insight in to Lennon and McCartney's humble beginnings. Beatles tours are available from February to November and get booked up quickly.
If your child requires a car/booster seat then you must provide and fit one yourself.

Tours in 2009 operate from late February to the end of November, Wednesday to Sunday and on Bank Holidays.

John Lennon lived at Mendips with his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George. This is where his passion for music began and where some of his early songs were written.

The McCartney family home, this is where the Beatles met, rehearsed and wrote many of their earliest songs. Displays include early Beatles memorabilia.

Getting to and around the houses
Please note that there is no direct access by car or on foot to either of these properties. Visits are by combined minibus tour of both houses.
Other things you need to know:
- There is no direct access to either house - you must book on one of our tours to see the properties
- The houses are not adapted for disabled access to the first floor rooms, but a photograph album is available
- Passengers are required to arrive 15 minutes in advance of the tour departure time and the bus cannot wait for late arrivals
- For security reasons, bags and cameras are left in secure facilities at both houses and internal photography is not permitted
- There are no storage facilities for suitcases on the bus or at either house.
