Neptune’s first purchase is Whiteford Burrows on the Gower Peninsula.

Purchase of one of our most iconic stretches of coast, Worms Head and Rhossili Beach on the south west corner of Gower in south Wales.

Enterprise Neptune reaches its original target of £2 million. We now have 338 miles (540 km) of coast in our care.

We offer £1 million for Land’s End, but lose to a higher bidder – a reminder of the sums involved in coastal protection.

Enterprise Neptune comes of age. Over £8.75 million has been raised since the inception in 1965.

In Kent, a stretch of clifftop at Langdon Hole extends our protection along the White Cliffs to 5 1/2 miles (9 km).

A successful fundraising campaign raises sufficient funds to enables us to purchase Wembury Point near Plymouth from the Ministry of Defence.

We now own 710 miles (1,142km) of coastline.

We have an opportunity to acquire Runkerry Head, just west of the Giant’s Causeway.
