Sight, smell, sound, touch, taste. And now financial. Why Hidcote is appealing to every sense this summer.
Since 2006 we have restored the Pillar Garden, Rock Garden, tennis courts and Bathing Pool. But for Hidcote to reach its full potential, we still need a further £475,000 to restore the Plant House, Kitchen Garden and Restaurant.
Sight, smell, and touch

Everyone has their favourite view, scent and feel of Hidcote, whether it’s the delicacy of the White Garden in spring, the fragrance of 'Hidcote Lavendar' in summer or the touch of the smooth bark of the 'Acer grosseri var, hersii' in the Wilderness Garden.
For us to continue appealing to the senses, we need to look after our rare and beautiful plants. After successfully completing Phase One of the Plant House project, we have cared for the sweetly-scented Burmese honeysuckle and the aptly named rhododendron ‘fragrantissimum’.
If Hidcote can raise £50,000 from further donations (worth £100,000 with matched funding) we’ll be able to complete Phase Two of the Plant House. This will enable us to further the garden’s Arts and Crafts tradition by hosting local community groups.
Taste and sound

Of the five senses, that just leaves taste and sound. One of the most exciting developments at Hidcote right now is the restoration of the Kitchen Garden.
As well as being an attractive and inspirational garden in its own right, the Kitchen Garden will also supply Hidcote’s restaurant, which, with your support, we hope to improve. So everyone, as well as hard-working, hungry gardeners will be able to enjoy the taste of freshly picked home grown produce.
In addition to improving the restaurant, we would like to create an outside eating area which would allow the final sense, sound, to be enjoyed the most, with bleating sheep, birdsong and the gardeners working tirelessly in the garden.
However, for us to continue work in the Kitchen Garden and to improve our Restaurant, by extending it and creating an outdoors eating area, we need your help today.

Financial appeal

The matched funding offer made to Hidcote by an anonymous donor means that every £25 you give to the garden is worth £50.
This extraordinarily generous offer expires at the end of the year, so this is your last chance to make your donation to Hidcote worth double. We are so close to realising Lawrence Johnston’s pioneering vision for the garden. If you wish to play your part in finally achieving the goal of restoring Hidcote to its 1930s heyday, please make a donation today.
