BT get active at Leigh Woods
The challenge
A team of 12 volunteers from BT Retail and Global Services got their wellies on to clear scrub at Leigh Woods, Bristol.
The impact
Richard, one of the BT volunteers, said: 'This is a site of an Iron Age fort, 2,500 years old. The team worked on cutting down trees and bushes to clear what’s believed to be one of the original paths into the fort. The National Trust team at the site were extremely grateful for the help with this work, and after seeing the scale of the task, it is clear that every extra pair of hands is needed.'
He added: 'Although the Trust employs staff to work at these sites, they rely greatly on volunteers. It was a wonderful day, and everyone finished, both satisfied and exhausted – but feeling that we had all made a worthwhile contribution to a beautiful space. The event not only provided the Trust with useful volunteers, it also acted as a great team building opportunity and I would recommend this to any managers wanting to hold team building events.'
