E.ON make a difference
The challenge
Over 60 employee from the Corporate Social and Corporate Affairs team volunteered for a day’s challenge at Kedleston Hall. Employees worked together to build tree guards to support trees, erect wooden fences and complete 300 metres of paths that would encourage local families to use the facilities and take advantage of the beautiful surroundings.
The impact
Suzanne Doxey, E.ON UK’s Employee Involvement Manager, said: 'We have worked closely with the National Trust for a variety of volunteer projects and our employees are always keen to work with this particular charity.
On this day, 60 people went out to complete the tasks and everyone deemed it a total success. As well as gaining new practical skills that they might otherwise not have been able to try, our employees spent a healthy day in the fresh air giving something back to the community. It’s always satisfying to see the tangible results of our labours, and working in such environments often inspires volunteers to go back to the National Trust properties with their families. From a company point of view, taking part in the EVP scheme achieves all our goals for employee volunteering and it’s always an amazing experience.'
Simon Hiley, Head Warden at Kedleston said of the day: 'E.ON have made a real impact to our work programme. What was achieved today would have taken me two weeks, it’s fantastic.'
