CRAC CRAC: The Career Development Organisation is the independent, charitable organisation dedicated to career development and active, career-related learning. CRAC works in partnership with schools, colleges, universities, government agencies and other key national organisations to achieve CRAC's vision of a world where people make career decisions wisely and develop their capabilities throughout their working lives. CRAC supports the delivery of the National Trust Young Heritage Leaders Course in which participants gain a Level 2 qualification in Leadership.
Girlguiding UK Girlguiding UK is the United Kingdom's largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, with about 575,000 members including about 65,000 trained volunteer adult Leaders. Girls and young women can get involved in an enormous range of exciting activities from outdoor challenges including climbing,abseiling and canoeing to learning new skills such as first aid, becoming a circus performer, toy making and much more. There is a long history of girls using National Trust properties for fun activities and camps.
John Muir Trust The John Muir Trust educates people about the value of wild places through the John Muir Award. It was started in 1997 to offer people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to learn about wild places. Through the four challenges of discover, explore, conserve and share and three progressive levels of involvement, it has so far helped over 50,000 people gain an appreciation of such places. Young People can gain their John Muir Award through Youth Discovery Working Holidays and by volunteering at National Trust properties.

Raleigh Raleigh are committed to inspiring people from all walks of life, ages and nationalities, involving them more deeply with people, places, communities and challenges and empowering them to be all they can be. Their second commitment is working in partnership with local communities to make a much needed difference to their lives. The National Trust is working with Raleigh to support opportunities for young people who have been on expeditions to stay involved in their local community through The Fourth Challenge.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is dedicated to the personal development of young people from all backgrounds. Approximately 275,000 young people undertake inspiring D of E programmes to achieve Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Awards every year. The award concept is one of individual challenge that encompasses personal development, self-reliance and responsibility to self and community. Many young people work with the National Trust to achieve the volunteering, skills or residential aspect of their award.
The Prince’s Trust Through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance, the Prince’s Trust helps young people who need it most to realise their potential and transform their lives. They help develop key skills, confidence and motivation, enabling young people to move into work, education or training. With the help of the Big Lottery Fund the National Trust and the Prince’s Trust have been running programmes together in the South West, North East and East Midlands. The Scouts The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 6-25. Internationally, the Scouts have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits across 216 countries. In 2007 the National Trust partnered with the Scouts to celebrate their centenary at Brownsea Island and continues to provide beautiful areas of countryside for Scouts to have adventures on.
V inspiring a million more volunteers V is the name of the independent charity championing youth volunteering in England. V exists to inspire a new generation of young volunteers (aged 16-25) in England and enable a lasting change in the quality, quantity and diversity of youth volunteering.
We have had a dedicated V team in the South West since 2007, encouraging volunteering in the heritage sector at both National Trust and non-Trust sites. Many V Volunteers choose to volunteer with the National Trust through their local vinvolved team either at their local property, through a working holiday or with their youth organisations.
YHA YHA runs a network of 225 youth hostels and 55 camping barns, spanning rural locations and major cities throughout England and Wales. They welcome individual travellers, families and school and youth groups, recording more than 2 million overnight stays each year. Some YHA hostels are in National Trust properties, so they will be of historical significance and in great surroundings.
