Youth Debates
Our 2007 Annual General Meeting took place in London on 3 November 2007.
We organised a Youth Forum where young people were able to discuss and debate issues relating to the trust.
The Forum also considered how the National Trust best listens to young people's views.
Take a look at our AGM webcast to see what went on. To see the youth debate, press the skip forward button once the webcast has loaded.
Circle of Influence
The National Trust has been supporting the Circle of Influence, a youth driven initiative to empower young people to action on issues that matter to them. Initially The Circle of Influence will focus on climate change. For further information see The Circle of Influence website: www.circleofinfluence.org.uk
Mystery Visiting
The National Trust is currently piloting a mystery visit programme where young people have been trained to assess what visiting a National Trust property is like for a young person. The results from this programme will highlight to the Trust how to better respond to young people's needs as visitors.
Climate Change
The Trust's new climate change and young people project You, Me, and The Climate was launched on 29 October 2007 in London. For further information please visit www.youmeandtheclimate.org
Climate Change Champions 2007/2008 Defra has launched a national competition across England to find nine outstanding young people, aged 11-18, to become the next Climate Change Champions for 2007/08.
The winning Champions will attend a European climate change expedition and will get to meet senior Government and international representatives to talk about the issue.
They will also receive a digital camera to record their ‘time in office’ and £1,000 to organise a climate change themed event at their school or college, or within their community.
Full details on the competition are available on www.climatechallenge.gov.uk
