    Circles in Time photo competition

If you're a budding photographer, here is your chance to show off your skills by sending us your pictures of Avebury.

Shining in the Waxing Gibbous Moon by Tim Bramall
October 2009 entry - Tim Bramall

    Avebury: Circles in Time

We're running a photo competition. The best photograph which relates to the changing year at Avebury will be posted on this page, month by month. The best twelve photos will also be displayed at a public photo exhibition in the Circle Restaurant at Avebury in 2010.

    The theme

Photos should be of Avebury at a particular month in the year, from April 2009 to March 2010, but other than that the subject is left up to you. However, we're keen to stress that, if possible, photos should say 'Avebury' in some way. For example, a photo of snowdrops in February would be good, but a photo of the snowdrops in the melting February snow in front of Avebury Manor would be better.

You are not restricted in the number of photos you send in for each month.

Shining in the Waxing Gibbous Moon

My family and I had wanted to see the Stone Circles for ages at Avebury. We had already seen Stonehenge and the nine ladies and Arbor Low in Derbyshire. We enjoyed a leasurely guided tour at 2.30pm around the site. Then we rushed up to the West Kennet long barrow although mum was too scared to go in as it was getting dark. But there was a lovely sunset and a clear moon and that was when we went back the stones to get my picture.
