| Avebury is one of the most important megalithic monuments in Europe and is spread over a vast area. Many of the stones were re-erected in the 1930s by archaeologist Alexander Keiller. The Museum (housed in the Barn Gallery and Stables Gallery) presents many of the fascinating finds from all the local excavations. Interactive and audio-visual displays bring alive the story of the stones and the people who strove to uncover its past. | | | | Please note that due to on-going conservation work some sections of the stone circle may be closed.
