About this property A much-altered house of monastic origin, the present buildings date from the early 16th century, with notable Queen Anne alterations and Edwardian renovation. The charming Edwardian garden was completely redesigned in the early 20th century and provided inspiration for Vita Sackville-West, a frequent visitor in the 1920s. Visitors can relax amidst the topiary and tranquil spaces of this delightful garden, which is contained within ancient walls and clipped box hedges, creating a series of outdoor 'rooms'. Some of the features are believed to be survivals of the original priory precinct.
