The interior of this beautiful Palladian mansion is filled with fine pictures and furniture and is noted for its original delicate plasterwork, elegant staircase and unusual Octagon Room. Much work has been undertaken to repair and reinstate the gardens at Basildon Park, and there are waymarked trails through the parkland. Basildon Park can be seen in the recent feature film adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice.
2009 will see extensive stonework conservation to the exterior of the mansion providing excellent behind the scenes opportunities to view the work of the National Trust
